Does your website need a refresh?

Most of us have grand plans for our lives.

And as a small business owner, your thoughts are probably on how you’re going to improve your business

One thing we can all be certain of – a good website is key to most businesses in the 21st century.

So what separates a good site from a not-so-good one? And is it good enough to refresh what you have or is it time for a new website?

Here are a three pointers:

Say what you do

You’re so close to your business you know everything about it (or at least we hope you do!).

So it’s often difficult to step back and put yourself in a new site visitor’s shoes.

Ask yourself, “If someone who had never been to my site before lands on the home page, is it immediately obvious what I do?”

On the home page of Gloucestershire Web Designs we state “We build and design great websites”. What could you do to make the nature of your business obvious to new visitors?

 Make contact simple

There’s nothing worse than not being able to find what you’re looking for.

And you’ve probably got 5 seconds to impress a visitor to your website.

If you’ve got your message across well, they’re going to want to get in contact.

Is it simple to contact you?

We suggest having ‘contact’ as one of your Top Level menus AND a telephone number clearly at the top of every page.

Our telephone number sites at the top of the site:

Keep up to date

Have half the members on your team page left?

Or are you still sporting your 1970s haircuts?

Have your range of services or products grown since your site was built?

Spend time going through all the static pages of your site, updating the text and photos.

There’s nothing worse than an out of date site because it gives the impression you don’t care.

If you need help creating a new website that reflects your brand contact Gloucestershire Web Designs or call us on local rate: 0845 45 99 100 to see how we can help you.
