We’ve all heard the stories about people’s computers getting infected with viruses.
Perhaps you know someone who had their website hacked.
An invasion of cyber security can be incredibly stressful and potentially harmful to your bottom line.
That’s why we offer all our clients a VIP hosting and site maintenance package.
With hosting, you really do get what you pay for.
Sure you can get shared hosting for a couple of pounds a month, but what about the security?
Does your hosting include backups to your data, so you don’t lose weeks or months of work?
Does your hosting include core, theme and plugin updates to prevent your site getting hacked?
And does your hosting company regularly monitor and put measures in place to prevent cyber attacks on your behalf?
Over in the US, it’s National Cyber Security Awareness month. The goal is to raise awareness about cybersecurity and increase the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident.
They point out that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility.
And I tend to agree.
That’s why we ask our clients not to share their site passwords with anyone, give them a full tutorial on selecting a safe password if they want to change it, and to inform us if their security is compromised in any way.
During the years of running Gloucestershire Web Designs, we’ve had one client with a computer that was infected with a virus after they gave a supposed technician permission to take over their system remotely, another who had their phone stolen – they were logged into their site at the time – and another who had their home broken into and laptop stolen!
Fortunately we were able to take preventative measures to stop a catastrophe happening in all cases.
Are your hosting company taking your security seriously?
